Terms of Use

For TAT (Tattoo Artist Tracker). Last updated October 14, 2026.

Please read these terms. They include a binding arbitration agreement and class action waiver that affect how disputes are resolved, a tattoo risk notice, and limits on our liability. If you do not agree, do not use TAT.

1. The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Joshua Lee, doing business as TAT (Tattoo Artist Tracker) ("TAT", "we", "us"). They cover the TAT website at tattooartisttracker.com and tattooartisttracker.vercel.app, the TAT phone apps, and everything we offer through them (together, "TAT"). By creating an account, checking the box that you agree, or otherwise using TAT, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy and Content and Copyright Policy, which are part of these terms.

2. Who can use TAT

You must be at least 18 years old to use TAT or create an account. By using TAT you confirm that you are 18 or older, that you can form a binding contract, and that you are not barred from using TAT by law. If you use TAT for a shop or other business, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for it, and "you" includes that business.

TAT is in an invite-only beta. Features may change, break or disappear, and we may limit or end access at any time.

3. What TAT is, and what it is not

TAT is a directory and messaging tool. It helps people discover tattoo shops and artists and send them consultation requests. TAT is not a tattoo shop, does not perform or arrange tattoos, does not employ or supervise any artist or shop, and is not a party to any agreement between you and a shop or artist. Any appointment, price, deposit, design, consent form, aftercare plan or service is strictly between you and the shop or artist.

We do not take payments or deposits. Do not send money to anyone because of a message on TAT unless you have confirmed who they are.

A consultation request is just a message. We do not guarantee that a shop will reply, accept your request, honor a quote, or be available.

4. We do not vouch for shops, artists or their work

We do not inspect shops, check licenses, verify health and safety practices, confirm identities, check backgrounds or review the quality of anyone's work, except for the limited check we do before approving a shop claim. A shop appearing on TAT, being "on TAT", being saved by other people, or having good ratings is not a recommendation, endorsement or guarantee by us.

Before you get a tattoo, it is up to you to research the shop and artist, confirm that the studio holds a current license from the Texas Department of State Health Services (or your local health authority), ask about sterilization and single-use needles, and decide whether they are right for you.

5. Tattoo risk notice

Tattoos are permanent and carry real health risks, including infection, allergic reactions to ink, scarring, keloids, blood-borne disease from unsafe equipment, and results you may not like. Removal can be expensive, painful and incomplete. Talk to a doctor first if you have a health condition, are pregnant, take blood thinners or have a history of skin or allergic reactions.

You choose your shop, artist and design yourself and you accept these risks. Any claim about a tattoo, piercing or other service, including injury, illness, infection, a bad result, a lost deposit or a dispute about price, is against the shop or artist who provided it, not against TAT. TAT is not responsible for the acts, omissions, work, premises or conduct of any shop, artist or other user, online or offline. If you meet someone in person because of TAT, take sensible precautions.

6. Listings from Google Maps

Most shop listings, ratings, hours, photos and reviews on TAT come from Google Maps and belong to Google or the people who posted them. We show them as provided and cannot correct them. They may be out of date or wrong. Check details with the shop before you go.

TAT uses Google Maps features and content. By using TAT you also agree to the Google Maps / Google Earth Additional Terms of Service and acknowledge the Google Privacy Policy.

7. Shop and artist accounts

Only the owner or an authorized manager of a shop may claim its listing. We confirm claims before approving them and may remove a claim or a business profile at any time. Consultation requests sent to a shop that has not joined are held until the shop claims its listing, and are not sent to the shop before then.

If you use TAT as a shop or artist, you also promise that:

8. Your content

You keep ownership of the photos and text you post, including consultation requests and messages ("your content"). You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, resize, display and send your content as needed to run, improve and promote TAT. For promotion, we will only use content that a shop or artist posted on a public profile. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that other people already received in messages, and backups we keep for a limited time.

You are responsible for your content. Only post photos you took or have the right to share, and never post a photo of someone without their permission. Shops and artists should only post their own work. We may remove any content and are not required to monitor it.

9. Things you may not do

You can report a profile or conversation from inside the app, or email hello@tattooartisttracker.com. We may remove content, suspend or close any account, and cooperate with law enforcement, at our discretion and without notice, if we believe someone broke these terms or put others at risk.

10. Our property

TAT, its name, logo, flash artwork, design and software belong to us and are protected by law. These terms do not give you any right to use them except to use TAT as intended. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.

11. Ending your account

You can stop using TAT and delete your account at any time, as explained on our account deletion page. We may suspend or end your access at any time for any reason, including if TAT shuts down. Sections 3 to 6, 8, 10 and 12 to 17 continue after your account ends.

12. No warranties

TAT IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE". TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT AND ACCURACY. WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT TAT WILL BE AVAILABLE, SECURE OR ERROR-FREE, THAT ANY LISTING, RATING, PHOTO OR PROFILE IS ACCURATE, OR THAT ANY SHOP OR ARTIST IS LICENSED, SAFE, SKILLED OR RIGHT FOR YOU.

13. Limits on our liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS:

These limits apply to every theory of liability, including contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability and statute, even if we were told the damage was possible, and even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. Some places do not allow certain limits, so some of them may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for our own fraud or gross negligence.

Release. If you have a dispute with a shop, artist or other user, you release us from all claims, demands and damages of every kind arising out of or connected with that dispute. If you are a California resident, you waive California Civil Code section 1542, which says: "A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party."

14. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless TAT and its owners, partners and helpers from any claim, loss, liability, damage or cost (including reasonable legal fees) that comes from your content, your use of TAT, your breach of these terms or the law, or, for shops and artists, any service you provide or your dealings with any client.

15. Disputes: informal resolution, arbitration and class action waiver

Talk to us first. Before filing any claim, you agree to email a description of your dispute and what you want to hello@tattooartisttracker.com, and to try in good faith to resolve it with us for 60 days. We will do the same before filing a claim against you.

Binding arbitration. If we cannot resolve it, you and we agree that any dispute, claim or controversy arising out of or relating to TAT or these terms, including whether this section applies, will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules (or its Commercial Arbitration Rules for business accounts), rather than in court. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this section. The arbitration will take place in Bexar County, Texas, or by video or written submissions, or in your home county if the rules require it. Payment of fees follows the AAA rules. The arbitrator may award the same individual relief a court could, but only to the individual party seeking it.

Exceptions. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead, and either of us may ask a court to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property.

No class actions. YOU AND WE AGREE THAT EACH OF US MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST THE OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS, COLLECTIVE, CONSOLIDATED OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING. YOU AND WE BOTH WAIVE THE RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL. If this class action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim (and only that claim) goes to court, and the rest of this section still applies.

Opting out. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement within 30 days of first accepting these terms by emailing hello@tattooartisttracker.com from your account email with your name and the words "arbitration opt-out". Opting out does not affect any other part of these terms.

Time limit. To the extent the law allows, any claim must be filed within one year after it arises, or it is permanently barred.

16. Governing law and courts

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and applicable U.S. federal law, without regard to conflict of law rules. Any claim not subject to arbitration will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Bexar County, Texas, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction.

17. App stores

If you got TAT from the Apple App Store or Google Play, these terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google, and we, not they, are responsible for TAT and its support. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Your use must also follow the store's own terms. You confirm that you are not in a country under a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

18. General

These terms, together with the policies they link to, are the whole agreement between you and us about TAT. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a part, we have not waived it. You may not transfer these terms without our written consent; we may transfer them, for example to a company we form to run TAT or to a buyer. Neither of us is liable for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control.

19. Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and if the changes are significant we will let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using TAT after that, you accept the new terms. Changes will not apply to a dispute that you or we already raised.
